I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those who helped during Legion Week. Without you, we would not have been able to get through the events, starting with the Show and Shine on Saturday, June 22. We started at 7:00 a.m. and finished around 5:30 p.m. – a long day. The setup crew, the pancake breakfast crew, registrations, salespeople, lunch crew, dishwashers, take down crew, judges, bartenders, the list goes on, all of you worked hard to make this a successful event and I thank you for supporting the Legion in our endeavours.
We had 48 riders registered and 43 of those went on the Poker Ride. Our thanks must also go to Sechelt Legion, Madeira Park Legion, John Henry’s Marina and Resort and Ken and Tony at Davis Bay Pier for being good sports and giving out a poker card to all entrants. A fun day was had by all and the riders enjoyed being able to go that bit further this year to Garden Bay. It takes great teamwork to be able to pull this off. Your participation was greatly appreciated.
To those who either donated or acquired donations, again, thank you. Without your generosity, we would not be successful.
The winners of the various bike categories were:
- Best Touring, Ultra Classic 2006 Wayne McMillan
- Best Cruiser, Memorial Special Rod Johnston
- Best Classic, 1959 BMW Carlos Gerbrandt Best Sport, Blue Yamaha(Alberta) Joel Crowe
- People’s Choice Award, H.D. Skull Custom Blake Lambert
- Winner of the Kenmac/Boyd Trophy Farthest Travelled Joel Crowe, Okotoks, Alberta
Thanks to all of the riders who took part, hopefully, we will see all of you again next year.
Wednesday, June 26th – Strawberry Tea. We had a wonderful turnout again, it is so nice to be able to do this event and meet all of you every year. Many thanks to the prep people, the servers, the tea makers and the dishwashers. A good job, well done.
Friday, June 28th – Veterans Dinner and Candlelight Service. Thank you goes to all of our members who turned out to help us honour our veterans and thank them for their service to our country. After a wonderful dinner, we lit Candles of Remembrance and placed them on the Cenotaph. Our mission is to support our veterans and I think we demonstrated to them that we care about them that evening.
Thanks to everyone for helping to make Legion Week a success.
